Just a quick note to let everyone know that things are going well at Seminary. That's not to say that there are not challenges here and back in Mt. Carmel, but things have been manageable with God's help of course! Before the semester started, I dropped Introduction to the Old Testament, because I thought it was just too much (total of 12 hours) since one of those classes was Elementary Greek. My instincts seemed to be right this time! There are all kinds of horror stories about taking Greek and I can say that they are not unfounded. It is very challenging, but I really enjoy it and it is doable. You have to keep up with it everyday or you will quickly become lost with no hope of catching up. Fortunately, my Professor has a sense of humor and this has really helped as I could see how this class could become very "tense" very quickly! During the beginning of the semester it is easy to let your other classes "slide" so that you can spend more time on Greek. However, now we are starting to pay for that, as papers and test begin piling up in the other classes, now we still have keep up with Greek and get those papers, readings, and test done!
I started meeting with a "Shepherding Group" headed up by a Professor this semester. We only meet once a month, but it has been really helpful this past week to have a Professor to talk to and also to talk with other students who are going through similar things. My professor happens to be younger that me and with young children and so I have been able to give him some advice as well.
Back in Mt. Carmel, the Deacons of the Church have been meeting on Monday nights for regular Bible study and it has been one of the best experiences I have had with this group of men. Studying the Word together definitely brings unity to any group that are committed to it together. Thanks to Pastor Adam for starting this study and I hope we can do it again soon!
That's all for now. Hope to write more soon!
Rob
